NaNoWriMo 2010 - Part 6
“Where are we…?” Asked Daéja, look around in puzzlement. Though they were surrounded in what looked like water (there were water plants and animals- like fish and seals playing the water), there was a shining opalescent bubble around the boat, allowing everyone to breath air like on land. The boat was sliding through (not on top of, but through) the water like a fish of its own. It seemed to go on its own, there was no turning over of it though it had no way of ballasting itself (was there a ballast?). The boat was sliding though the water towards a glowing light on the horizon, glowing because the water was a darker clear blue then had been normally seen. The glow was getting larger and larger on the horizon, turning into a castle when Daéja, Jaéda, Uncle Umi and the boat got closer. The castle was created out of coral and crystal, and it was what was shining in the distance. The coral was white, though with red accents (all the better to be accents with, for if it was all red, what would be interesting to look at?) Because the castle was in water, there were many towers and many windows, for it was assumed that a person could merely swim out of a window to go upon there way. The castle was surrounded by another golden bubble, though this one as stated (or at least inferred) to not seperate water from air.
Daéja and Jaéda looked at this, and knew that it was a magical place. Of course, they got ths rather quickly, for they were not rather stupid. Looking at the castle, their eyes grew open wide, both had the reflection of the castle shining in their eyes, and they looked in awe at the castle ahead of them.
Once they got to the “gate” (another creation of coral and crystal, though there was more pearl mixed in with it), Uncle Umi stood at the front of the boat (otherwise known as the “bow”), and nodded to the water nymph guards at the gate.
“Hello. I am here to talk to her Lady, the Lady Poésha vas Martinierre gir Lona, Goddess of the Sea and Oceans. I believe I know some people she should meet, and who should be given a chance to plead their case to her.”
The guard looked them over. “Well, you are who you think you are… Are you not?” Asked the nymph. She was a bit scatterbrained, but she also had the ability to tell when people were tealling the truth. Would you not be a little crazy if you always knew when people were lying to you or not?
“Yes. I swear on my honor to do all that I can to protect her from them and them from her.” At this Daéja nd Jaéda looked at each other. They were in shock! The Lady Poésha vas Martinierre gir Lona, Goddess of the Sea and Oceans was a goddess! How on the whole planet were they supposed to hurt her?
“And may I ask the names of those you are letting in?” Asked the other nymph. She was not able to tell the truth or lies out of what was being spoken to her, but she trusted the first nymph (Kassy) implicently, for Kassy had proven herself over and over.
“This is Daéja Sulin Xenof vis Martinierre gar Lona and Jaéda Sulin Xenof vas Martinierre gir Lona. I have brought them here to find out the truth behind their lives, for they deserve to know it.”
“I see.” Said the second nymph (Las Banna), for she knew that the name would anger The Lady Poésha vas Martinierre gir Lona, Goddess of the Sea and Oceans, but she knew that she would demand to hear them out anyway, such was her will. It could be rather annoying sometimes, especially since Gergory Melissa Melissa Sulin Xenof vis Martinierre gar Lona had managed to lock her into her own kingdom, and the mountain, and not allowed her to take on mortal form to talk to the people as she had once did. “We will take you to her… Personally.”
“We would be grateful to you for that. You two are welcome to come aboard should you wish it.” Said Uncle Umi, trying not to notice the stiffening in his charges as they looked at him in confusion. Something seemed to pass between the twins, and they seemed to come to an agreement.
“If you would please, we would like to be- or rather- we would prefer to be introduced as Daéja eil Klinxx and Jaéda ela Klinxx.” Jaéda said, motioning to her brother and then herself. The two nymphs who, Daéja had noticed, seemed to come up against an invisible wall at the edge of the gate, looked at each other, then Les Bana raised one perfect nymph eyebrow, and looked over at her friend. Kassy just smiled the scatterbrained smile that she always smiled (yeah for repetitious word padding to win NaNo!) and nodded.
“Very Well” Las Bana said. “We will introduce you two as Daéja Sulin Xenof vis Martinierre gar Lona GIX eli Klinx and Jaéda Sulin Xenof vas Martinierre gir Lona GIX ela Klinx, and we will get on your boat as soon as you pass through the gate.”
“Then we have best start doing so.” Said Uncle Umi as Kassy opened the gate, and he began to maneuver through said gate. Once through the gate, the two nymphs got on the boat with a funny swimming motion. As soon as they were within the bubble, both nymphs settled down as though they were completely used to walking in “dry” land. As soon as they were both on the boat, Jaéda turned to them and said:
“Actually” Jaéda started, slightly embarresed, “it is Klinxx- there are two x’s.”
“I… See. Very well, we will introduce you two as Daéja Sulin Xenof vis Martinierre gar Lona GIX eli Klinxx and Jaéda Sulin Xenof vas Martinierre gir Lona GIX ela Klinxx.”
Jaéda and Daéja noticeably relaxed, and Las Bana tried to figure out how that it was even possible to notice there was an “x” missing in a name with two “x”’s like so: “xx”. Apparently it all has to do with the mindset. It is just like an Anne who knows where their name is spelled “Ann” without the e, (there is a difference), or a Caroline who notices that their name is missing the “e” and they were then Carolin- okay, that one is different, but STILL. Anyway, at the sudden awkward silence that enveloped the group, it was Daéja who had the next question.
“What does GIX mean?” Daéja asked, trying to end the awkwardness. Kassy was the one who answered, and her voice had the weird tone to it that all seers and truthtellers had no matter what. It sounded almost like when you take a wine glass, fill it with water, and rub a wet (eww… Not like that) finger around the edge to make that erally cool chiming noise. Her voice had an overlay of that tone in it, a chiming that was high and clear and ethereal.
“That is just an old sigil” (is that even the right word? Must investigate further) “that says that you have changed your names, and that your second name is the name you truly are. Everything but your first name goes after the “GIX”. Any other questions?”
“Yeah, please forgive my asking, but why does your voice sounds like that?”
“I am a seer and a truth teller and see-er. I am not a very high level seer, however, that talent is left to others in my family. I however can tell when someone is telling a truth or a lie, no matter how small- or to whom the lie is said, even if someone has been lying to themselves. I also am unable to tell a lie myself or influence anyone to lie on my behalf. If I am touching someone, they are only able to tell the truth, and if I ever have carna-”
“Okay, I think that that is enough” Uncle Umi said, sharing a flushed face with La Bana. Jaéda and Daéja, though, were laughing and smiling as they were teenagers, and embarresed older people wre funny. Just think about it- when you are a teenager, and someone older then you (an adult) is embarrassed about sex stuff, is it not funny? Or ist that just me… :is sweatdropping now:
“Like I said” Kassy said with a gentle tinkling laugh, I can literally not tell a lie. It can sometimes be annoying.”
“With your permission,” Daéja asked, then “wait- could I please get your names first-”
“I am Kassy” said the Truth Teller, then “and my friend is La Bana”. Just the way that she said friend implied so much more then just what she was saying, and when Daéja did not seem swayed, she grinned. Apparently Daéja had only the most honorable of intentions, or that friend would have scared him away.
“Thank you Miss Kassy. You said that anyone touching you will only be able to tell the truth. May I…?”
Telling exactly what Daéja wanted, Kassy held her arm out to the young man, and he carefully laid his hand on her arm in a most gentlemanly form. Once their skin made contact, a shock went through both of them, and Daéja seemed to freeze, as though petrified.
“May I as well?” Asked Jaéda. When Daéja had made contact with Kassy’s arm, a shiver of fear had gone through him, and Jaéda had found herself accidently reading his feelings, and she knew what he wanted to do. Daéja gave her a sharp look, and she sent a thought to him as though they had never stopped communicating telepathically at the age of three. ‘I know what you are trying to do, and you will not do it alone dear brother.’
‘I thank you.’ he sent back, shocked that their telepathy was suddenly working again after almost fourteen years. As if she could read their thoughts, Kassy just smiled and nodded. Once Jaéda’s hand was on Kassie’s arm, she nodded at her brother. He smiled and said something he had started to think of as soon as he had heard both that his and Jaéda’s names had been changed, and that Kassie was a truth speaker. “My name is” he began, just as Jaéda too said “My Name is”
“…Jaéda ela Klinxx.”
“…Daéja eli Klinxx.”
After both had spoken, there was a moment where it seemed like all three- Jaéda, Daéja and Kassy had been struck by a low level lightning bolt. Jaéda’s hair even frizzed up even more then usual. Carefully she and her brother took their hands off of Kassie’s arm, and checked her arm to make sure she was uninjured. There was no marks on Kassy’s arm, but when Daéja and Jaéda checked the palm’s of their hands, they noticed something unusual…
Well, unusal would be a slight understatement. On Daéja’s left hand was half of a symbol from their adoptive mother’s home country- the yin yan. On the palm of his left hand (again- yeah repetition!) was the white half, matching his eyes with the same intensity that was in his eyes. At the bottom was a black dot that looked like a glittering gemstone, managing to make the symbol look like a white fish with a glittering black eye. Jaéda held up her right palm, and the exact same thing yet in invertedness was on her hand, a solid black fish with a white gemstone eye at the bottom of it, matching her eyes and hair.
“I did not know that was going to happen” Kassy said, and because she was a truth speaker as well as a truth senser, everyone knew that what had happened was something completely and utterly new and unexplicable. Uncle Umi had even stopped steering, which was when he realized that it was okay because there was magic in the water, and he really did not have to steer. Granted, the water magical in such a way that it took a long and varied route to the castle unless steered straight trhough, but it was still possible.
Carefully, unsure of what was going to happen, Daéja and Jaéda moved their palms together. It was rather disturbing what happened next. Not scary, just incredibly… weird. Their palms started to shirt, and the fish under their skin started to spin in a circle as though they were spinning together- dancing together.
“Well, this is weird” Jaéda said sardoncially, watching her and her brother’s fish spin around each other- lord almighty that sounded slightly dirty, but this fic is not going to have any sort of twincest in it, so you all do not have to worry any.
“You said it Jae”. ‘Jae, can you still hear me? Can you and I still talk like this?’ He tensed, afraid that it had gone away- the ability to telepathically call on his sister.
‘Yes, we can. Do you mind if we still do this? I mean, you and I were not very friendly, but-
‘-But we are still brother and sister, and now we can talk again, can we not stop? I really missed this, I think, do you remember when we were younger and we used to talk like this?’
‘Yes. I missed it too. It was like, like something was gone but now we have it back.’
“So… You two… are you going to keep talking to each other, because we are here now.” Uncle Umi said, eyes twinkling. He had stopped them from telepathically talking to each other at age three in the hopes that they would be able to start talking for realz and then go back to telepathically talking. It had taking fourteen years, but there was a shine in both of their eyes that had been missing.
“Oh, right- wait, how could you tell?”
“I am magic.” He said, and he and the two nymohs shared a secret smile.
“We are here.” La Bana said, and so they were.
The doors to the main hall were merely for show, being unnecessary in a world of water, and yet they were good for there is nothing quite as anxiety causing as a closed door, so for it to exist was indeed impressing. The door wasa a huge piece of magican creation, black marble that did not seem to mesh with the underwater décor so common in all the other architechture. There was no way that this construct would open against the pressure of the water unless magical, and indeed there were silver runes and inlays in the doors that glowed with an unearthly light, and seemed to be an integral part of it’s contruction, for there was no way it seemed possible for the door to be made without those constructs. With a whispered word that stil managed to echo in the water around them, the door opened to reveal a brightly lit room.
Carefully Uncle Umi stepped off of the platform where the wheel helm thingy stands, and let down the gangplank. “You two can untie yourselfs, we are here.” And so they did, following their Uncle Umi from the boat to the room. The inside of the room was surprisginly dry, and bright with plants and a throne at the opposite end. The throne was made of coral, and it was still red though nto alive in this dry enviroment. The woman sitting on the throne was something else entirely, though.
The woman sitting on the trone had pale eyes- or were they impossible dark? One moment they were the color of green sea foam, and the next the color of the deepest oceans. Her hair was long, and seemed to swirl around her haad in invisible currents, though she had no way of maintaining it in the water- it would have gotten impossibly tangled- right? Unless it was, ya know, magic her being the sea goddess and all that, right? Her hair was long, and it would have reached her waist had it fallen straight down, in waves and eddies of light blue at the top to the dark blue that is almost balck at the bottem, wirh streaks of green inside of it. Her skin was as pale and pearlescent as the most pure of pearls, and it made her already large eyes look even larger in her inhumanly beautiful- and yet deadly- face.
Now, when it is said that her hair reached down to her waist, it should honestly be noted that her whole bodt was stretched out, and she was not proportioned like a normal human being, but rather like a character out of something from CLAMP- preferably xXxHolic, and it’s frequent noodly people. At the end of each long hand were equally long fingers, and at the end of those were incredibly long fingernails, each painted silver and looking like some particularly evil throwing knives. She had decided to not wear shoes, and her feet were just as long as her hands. Both her hands and feet had webbing between the appendeges, though only her hands had nails at the end. She was wearing a swirled dress that dipped fashionably over her comparitivly small bosem for have a chest underwater was not condusive to cutting through the waves very easily. The dress itself fit with the motif of “ocean”- though it was a bit different. For one thing, the pattern moved- in fact, it seemed as though she was wearing a picture frame on the ocean, from the darkest depths at the bottom where the water was black but glowing lights let you know a predetor was nearby and waiting for a meal. At the top of the dress, (for the dress was indeed a strapless dress) was the creashing waves of the surface, endlessly crashing. Around her neck the goddess wore a neckless made out of a pure drop of water with a tiny silver fish swimming inside of it.
“If I may present to you” La Bana began, remembering what she had told the twins, and what had happened when they spoke their names while touching Kassy. “Daéja Sulin Xenof vis Martinierre gar Lona GIX eli Klinxx and Jaéda Sulin Xenof vas Martinierre gir Lona GIX ela Klinxx.”
“There are most defiantly two xes” said Jaéda apologetically, having the feeling in her gut that something was horribnly wrong with this goddess, and that she was staring into their very souls.
“You two have finally come” she said in a voice like the crashing of waves and the songs of whales. “I and my family have waited long to meet you. I see you have met one of my grandchildren, Uncle Umi I believe you call him? That is not his name, you know, you silly children.”
“Well, if you will forgive them” Uncle Umi said with a grin to his grandmother, “I mean, it is my name, but I really do not mind much.” Then he grew grave and spoke with a serious tone that the twins had never amanged to quite hear before. If he had ever been this serious, it was only a drop compared to what he was doing right then, and his voice rang in the still room with finality, and tinged with a kind of power that was new and unfamiliar to both Daéja and Jaéda. “They are good children- both of them.”
“Do you forget what their father did to us?” Poésha vas Martinierre gir Lona asked of her grandchild. He was the only one in the line of grandchildren who had carried on within his blood to use the magic provided by the ocean, but to have this child claim that these two children were “good”- after what that Gergory scum had done to her? Perpostrous!
“I know what Gergory Melissa Melissa Sulin Xenof vis Martinierre gar Lona did to you, however I also know that their father is a Pirate Ninja by the name of Thomas “Iruka” O’Mally, and that he has done nothing against you except for worship you and belive in you all his life.”
