Mild spoilers for “Alpha Male”

Written for  prompt here, though sadly I went off the prompt some. I'm really sorry OP! You wanted Superboy's reaction to the song, but it turned into a sequel-of-sorts to this, but from M'gann's point of view. Reading the other one would be helpful, but it's not really needed. All you need to know is that Supermand and Conner are acting like mentor/mentee (though not quite like father/son).

“Conner?” Megan asked when she arrived at Mount Justice.

No answer- then she remembered.

“Hello Megan!” Megan said, then winced. She had been trying to stop saying that- apparently real people on earth didn’t actually have catchphrases like the TV shows. Of course Conner wouldn’t actually be at Mount Justice! He and Superman had been spending a lot more time together, which was totally a good thing! Really! It was a good thing that Conner was spending more time with Superman… Even if that did mean he wasn’t around to watch her at cheerleader practice, or to walk home with her, or to have dinner with her- no! It wasn’t the time to be selfish.

Even if it did get really lonely at Mount Justice all by herself. She could go move in with her uncle, but he wasn’t really home enough for it to be different, not really. At least Mount Justice had Rolly, and Wolf, and Red Tornado… Rolly and Wolf weren’t really enough to make Megan not miss Conner, but they helped more than it would have if they hadn’t been there.

Home from school, and cheerleading practice, Megan did her homework (alone) at the kitchen table (alone). She didn’t have that much homework today (thankfully), but it was still really lonely no! She wasn’t lonely, and she wouldn’t be upset about being alone at the mountain.

Conner deserved his time with his mentor. He deserved his happiness. He didn’t deserve Megan moping over him finally having one-on-one time with Superman!

She decided to try and make cookies again. She was getting a lot better, actually, and they weren’t burning as often as they used to. It helped that she was right near the oven, waiting for the buzzer to go off… It wasn’t like she had any distractions.

The cookies came out perfectly.

Too bad there was no one at Mount Justice to appreciate them. Kaldur was off doing something with Red Arrow, Wally had mentioned something going on after school, Artemis had a friend in a boy named Dick Grayson, and would be spending the day with him, Robin was doing the “Dynamic Duo” thing in Gotham, and Superboy…

She shouldn’t be angry- she couldn’t be angry, not that she was alone (even after cheerleading, everyone else had stuff to do), not that she was lonely.

And the cookies sat there, mocking her.

She began to toss them in the garbage, at first with gentle tosses, but then throwing them with great force.

There was no reason to be angry, to be so upset.

That just made it worse. If there was a reason, if she had a reason, she could fix it.

Once all the cookies were in the trash, Megan calmed herself, and took some time to spread out the imaginary wrinkles in her clothes. She didn’t need to, but it was a human trait she had found to be kind of soothing.

As Megan cleaned up the dishes from her cooking endeavor, she almost wished that Martian’s could cry. It might help. As it was, all she had was a gaping hole inside of her, and the hope that no one would notice it when she mind-linked them the next time a mission occurred.

Not gonna lie, I kind of want to do more about Megan and Conner with this backdrop... And I might just yet. Hm.... >___>

If it helps, I kind of have an idea for what would happen next, based on "Perfect For You" (sort of, a little. Not a lot though. Conner's not gonna become a stoner. >_>)
