Original post here, if you can read it. :)

Conner was enjoying flying.

Really enjoying flying.

Part of him felt guilty that he was enjoying it at Wally’s expense, but part of him was just in complete and utter awe at the feeling of weightlessness… He wondered if M’gann felt like that every time that she flew, and then he frowned.

“Hey M’gann” he said, “you can fly, why did you need pixy dust?”

M’gann flushed a little, then replied, “people have been flying through space and exploring the universe for a while now… Green Lanterns, Martians, wealthy humans… And yet they’ve never found Neverland, they’ve never been able to measure ‘Neverland’ on any map, or guide. But, w a little bit of pixy dust, anyone can find it, and we need to find it.”

“Yeah, I was wondering that too” Robin said, earlier anger at M’gann acknowledged as a ‘dick move’. “You can fly, but you use pixy dust.”

“The answer makes sense” Kaldur admitted, his flight mimicking the way he swam through the oceans, hands straight back, feet kicking slightly- more out of force of habit than anything else.

There was silence as they flew through space, then, Conner said, “M’gann, is this what flying feel like for you?”

“Yes.”

“Thanks” then, after glaring at the others to make it known that what he was about to do wasn’t a joke, Conner put one arm out, and began to fly in the pose most people associated with one Superman of Krypton.

As they got nearer to Neverland, they realized that it was night-time, something they hadn’t expected, but traveling under the cover of darkness was something the team was actually pretty good at, so it was okay. Making sure no one was watching, Artemis tried to balance on one of the clouds, like in the Disney cartoon. It held her, and she grinned a small secret smile. Swooping down lower, they passed a pirate ship that was just sailing in to the bay created by the curve of the island, and they landed on Neverland proper just as the sun started to rise.

They decided to land near the Indian encampment, where there were people, and a fire, and dancing, but as the sun rose, it all vanished before their eyes, leaving Wally curled up into a small ball, and making oddly suspicious sniffling noises. M’gann was the first to land, having practice from her own flying activities, followed by Robin who landed with a cartwheel, then Kaldur, M’gann, and lastly Conner.

“Wally, are you alright?” M’gann asked gently. Of course, he didn’t sound alright, but the movies (and some questions asked of Black Canary about human behavior) suggested that it was better to ask, and let people explain, than to assume you knew what was going to happen.

He looked up, tear tracks shining faintly in the morning light.

“I thought no-one was here” he said with a British accent, and M’gann was startled to realize that she was going to be talking to Peter.

“We are.” She said, “may I please talk to Wally?”

Peter nodded glumly, and there was a minor shift that went across his face, before she was looking into Wally’s eyes. He stood up, and wiped his tears with the back of his hand. “What are you guys doing here?” he asked, voice rough.

“Kid Idiot- did you really think you could just up and leave like that, and we wouldn’t follow?” Artemis asked, huffing, and rolling her eyes.

“You didn’t have to come” he said, not looking at them.

“Dude, we followed Red Tornado into a super-volcano, we can follow you to Neverland.”

“True.”

“Are you here for a purpose, or did you just decide to fly to Neverland?” Kaldur asked, the voice of reason.

“I’m here for a reason” Wally admitted, looking towards the bay where Captain Hook’s ship was putting in anchor. “I need to go and fight Captain Hook. That’s why I’m back.”

“Alone?” Conner asked, not looking very comfortable with the fact. “That’s stupid.”

“Yeah, well, I made the bet when I was seven ish, so cut me a little slack here!”

“We’ll be there to cheer you on” M’gann said, and Artemis followed that with:

“And to make sure that the pirates don’t cheat.” Her comment was accompanied by a feral grin, and a quick touch to her bow and arrows.

None of them wanted to talk about what might happen afterwards. That could wait until after the fight, and Wally would win it- of that they were sure.
